3D printing comes to Lewes!

There has been a great deal of press about 3d printing lately and the potential to print in a completely new and affordable way.

We have been following this trend for some time and are now delighted to offer this service at the Print Centre here in Lewes. While we still provide all the basic print options as well as large format/tee shirt printing ect- this new option is creating a real buzz here in Station Street.

The physical limitations for us at the moment are the ability to print 3d no larger than 220 x 220 x 90 mm image. This image is made of ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene – or same qualities of LEGO!) to give a tough and durable finish. The other option is PLA ( polylatic acid – which is degradable).

We have seen some models of house plans, no longer printed on A3 prints but as a full 3d model. This offers clients the vision to see how their project will be completed in an innovative and affordable way ..

We have talked to customers who are making prototypes – anything from machine parts to kitchen implements – and are looking for a 3d version to present to would be investors. With the latest technology this now becomes a possibility. We have some samples being created at the moment and look forward to showing these to you very soon.

When you find you have something that you would like to be 3d printed, if you can save it as a pdf and send it to us we will do the rest! The costs to convert from a pdf to CAD and therefore 3d print are £45.00 per hour and to print ( depending on artwork) £45.00 per hour plus VAT ..

We envisage the future of 3d print whereby factories no longer hold stock of plumbing/tv/phone parts ect but simply send pdfs of stock to the customer to have the part printed locally. This would have a massively positive effect on costs for the customer as well as the environment.

3d printing is the future and we are delighted to be involved in such an exciting new phase of printing.
