Patina and its annual Moving On Parade celebrating young people moving from primary to secondary education in the Lewes area is one of the most special community events in Lewes. It featured on one of our new issue notes for 2020 and we were proud to support it as part of our theme of celebrating Lewes. We also have a small amount of money available to support local good causes that fit in with our ethos as an organisation. We therefore decided to give over LP400 – one note for every child moving on – to Patina to use as they saw fit to support their work. We were thrilled that Patina decided to give the notes to the children empowering them to choose to spend or save their note.
Caroline from Patina said “We are so grateful to the people at Lewes Pound for the very kind donation towards Moving On and feel very honoured to feature on the new one pound note. We thought the children leaving primary school should be the recipients, to celebrate their Moving On this year. It was a great way of showing them how the Lewes Pound supports local business and jobs, while giving them some money to support their fundraising activities for Moving On and offering a special souvenir of their Moving On day. The children were very excited to be the lucky ones to have such a unique gift. Thank you!“
